Purchase / FAQ

My artwork is created by special order, so I can customize the size, surface and medium.  The best way to purchase something is to select an image from my "Artist's Portfolio" page, and call me on my mobile phone to discuss.  I prefer speaking on the phone because I can quickly make recommendations, give you pricing and answer your questions in just a couple minutes.

However, if you prefer to email me, I will respond to your message within 24 hours.

FAQ:

Q:  Is there any place I can see or purchase your artwork?

A:  Yes!  You may purchase artwork from my Art Studio located near Downtown, just off Alcoa Hwy in Knoxville TN.  It is open by appointment 7 days a week.  I have many original paintings and giclée prints in stock.  However, if you don't find what you are looking for, I have sample books of all my artwork which you can order from.  Call my mobile for an appointment!

Q:  What is a giclée?

A:  A giclée (gee-clay) is a museum quality fine art print.  This method of printing utilizes archival pigment inks and prints can be done on a variety of surface substrates, such as canvas, paper, photo paper, etc.  It is the highest quality and best method for fine art reproductions.

Q:  How much do your giclée prints cost?

A:  The giclée prints are priced according to size but for giclée canvases, pricing may be impacted by the number of prints left in the edition.  For the most part, I create  limited editions of 75 each on canvas.  To give you a general price range, a stretched canvas giclée runs about $650 - $ 2,000 (over-sized or customization can affect the pricing).   Paper giclée prints are an open edition with prices starting at $ 30 on up (depending on size).  Example:  16"x20" matted print (as seen in the photo above) costs $ 85.

Q:  If I am interested in purchasing an original painting, What is the process and what do you have available?

A:  I do a lot of commissioned work.  This means I will paint a custom painting to meet your specifications.  I can paint whatever subject matter you like, any size, on any substrate and with any type of paint (i.e. oils, acrylics, watercolor, etc.)  If you absolutely love one of the images you see on my "Artist's Portfolio" page but it happens to be sold, I can create another painting with a very similar feel, subject matter and color palette.  Although I cannot paint the same thing twice.  That said, I promise you will love what I will create just for you.

Also, I have quite a few original paintings in my studio and I have many more in progress.  So it's worth a call and/or a visit to see what's available.  Additionally, it's a good opportunity to view the art in person in the event you would like to commission something.  (Most people say the artwork is much better in person, than what is depicted online.)

Q:  How much do your original paintings cost?

A:  It depends on the size, the complexity of the subject matter, the process and what I'm painting on (wood, canvas, metal, etc.).  Once we discuss what you are looking for, I will be able to give you a suggestions for your custom artwork along with a price.

Q:  How long does it take for you to produce a special order?

A:  Matted, giclée paper prints:  3-5 days (But I may have what you're looking for in stock, so call to inquire!).  Stretched canvas giclée prints:  7-14 days.  Original Paintings 4-12 weeks.  (These timelines are close estimates, but may differ due to my workload.)  If you are in a rush, let me know and I will do my very best to accommodate.

Q:  Can you create a painting from my photograph?

A:  Absolutely!  I can paint your dog, your house, that beautiful scenery that you photographed or whatever you wish!

Q:  What types of payment do you accept?  What are the terms?

A:  I accept checks, cash and all major credit cards.  Special order giclées are paid in full upon placing the order.  Commissioned original painting terms are 50% deposit and 50% due upon my completion.  I even offer financing through SquareUp (just ask me for more details).

Q:  Do you deliver or ship?

A:  Yes, I can deliver canvas artwork at no charge in a 25 mile radius.  Beyond that area, there will be a reasonable fee for me to deliver.  If shipping is needed, I will provide you with shipping options and pricing.  Matted prints must be picked up at my studio or I can ship them.

Q:  Do you have gift certificates?

A:  Yes!  I can create a beautiful art card with a gift certificate for any amount.

Q:  Is there a warranty on your artwork?  Do you offer refunds or exchanges?

A:  Yes.  I guarantee the quality of all my artwork, for my lifetime.  If there is an issue with the craftsmanship, I will either repair it or replace it, for the same type item.  A guarantee does not apply, if the artwork has been mishandled.  (Please read artwork handling instructions below.)

I do not offer refunds.  I have occasionally exchanged an item in the past.  However, it is on a case-by-case basis and within 10 days of purchase (There are no exchanges for special orders or commissioned originals).  I really want you to be happy with your purchase and I will do whatever I can to be helpful and fair.

Q:  How do I properly care for my artwork?

A:  Easy.  Keep it out of direct sunlight and keep it in a clean, temperature controlled environment.  The best and safest place for your artwork is on your wall!  (Basements, attics and storage units are no place for art and the materials will break down in these environments.)

Q:  Do you work with Designers and do you do Corporate installations?

A:  Absolutely!  If you are a Designer, or are in need of a quote for a Corporate install, just call or email me and I will assist you with details and more information about available discounts.

Q:  What about Sales Tax?

A:  Sales tax is applicable if you are in the State of Tennessee.  The current rate is 9.25%.  If you are a re-seller or an eligible non-profit, you will need to complete a "Blanket Certificate of Resale" form and return it to me in order to avoid being charged sales tax.  Click HERE to download this form.

Q:  Do you show in any Art Galleries?

A:  Not in my hometown of Knoxville Tennessee.  Galleries charge the Artist 50% commission for all sales.  That is difficult for an artist to survive on.  Also, most art galleries mandate that the artist agrees to an "exclusivity agreement" which does not allow an artist to sell anywhere other than that gallery and in that city.  Again, that's not a practical way to support oneself (and art galleries make no promise for a minimum amount of sales).  So if you really love art and you want to support local artists, it is always best to buy directly from the artist's studio.  That said, I do understand the overhead costs of running an art gallery.  I have owned two myself.  I have and will continue to work with art galleries in other cities since I can't effectively market my work in those areas otherwise.

Q:  Do you frame the artwork?  Can I choose the color of the matting on my paper giclée print?

A:  Yes I can and I will offer some framing suggestions which may work well with your art piece, should you choose that as an option.  However, all of my canvas artwork is "gallery-wrapped", so it is fabricated to be 'ready-to-hang' and framing is totally optional.  I don't however, frame other peoples' work - just my own.  (Note: "Gallery-wrapped" means that I stretch the canvas around the wooden stretcher bars, so that no staples are showing on the side of the artwork.  Instead, it is stapled on the backside.  The depth of the canvas can vary (i.e. 7/8" vs. 1.5" or 3", etc.).  When I consult with you, you will have the option to have the sides of the canvas artwork colored to suit, or to just leave them white.

The matting on my paper giclée prints comes standard in Black.  However, if you would like another color, you can indicate that when placing your special order for prints.  The prints which I keep in stock are all matted in Black.

Q:  What is your process for creating your artwork?

A:  Unlike many artists, I create each work of art myself from raw materials.  The stretcher bars are all hand cut and sanded, and the canvas is then primed and stretched by hand.  I use the absolute finest artist materials available and I spare no expense to achieve superior quality and craftsmanship.  The same applies to my giclée prints;  I do my own printing, matting, assembly, canvas stretching and varnishing with UV protective clear-coats.  After creating a painting or a giclée, each piece is signed, numbered (when applicable) and cataloged for archival purposes and future authenticity.  All of my paintings are of my own original concepts and design and are copyright protected under US Federal law.

Q:  Do you participate in any local art fairs?

A:  Yes, you can find me at "The Market Square Art Fair" each year in late April.  It is part of the Dogwood Arts Festival in Knoxville TN.  Otherwise, you can check back on my website for other events which I may be involved in.  I will post these on my Blog, Instagram and on Facebook accounts.  You will find links to all of these on this website.  Or consider signing up to receive emails from me and I will keep you in the loop.

In Final:  Should you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.  I am a very friendly person and I will be happy to assist you at any time!
